Nursing Moms and Litters HSP is looking for help. We frequently have pregnant dogs and cats that need a warm, dry, quiet place to stay and raise their young for an extended period of time. We can provide a pen or crate, food, all necessary medical care, towels and blankets if needed, if you can provide the love, care, and housing after the litter is born for a minimum of two weeks up to eight weeks total. In addition, please spread the word to your animal loving friends and let them know that we will need as much financial help to support the care of these animals as possible. We are one of the only groups in the area willing to take in these "mommas-in-need' (because of the time and cost involved, most groups won't bother). These poor creatures end up at the pound because their owners, who didn't spay them in the first place, don't want to deal with the consequences. Without us, these moms, through no fault of their own, would be euthanized; the pounds cannot keep a mom and litter due to the space, time, and disease susceptibility, and no one will adopt a pregnant animal. Your help and support in any way is appreciated-if interested, please call Meg at 815-436-2700. Thank you
